McClary joins Bob Jones basketball team

Rubyanna McClary, a resident of Max Meadows, has been named to the Bob Jones University Bruins women’s basketball team roster for the 2022-23 academic year. McClary is majoring in Sport Management at BJU.

The Bruins basketball team is ready to defend their region championship last season as the team released their 2022-23 season schedule. The Bruins finished last season at 12-16 but won their third NCCAA DII South Region championship, advancing to the Division II National Tournament for the fifth time.

“Every year is new and different and that is one of the great things about teaching and coaching,” Bruins Head Women’s Basketball Coach Mike LeViere said. “This schedule has some opponents we’ve never seen before as well those familiar teams and locations. One thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that our schedule will challenge our team and we will be tested early and often.”

The Bruins will play a challenging schedule featuring a variety of NCAA, NAIA, and NCCAA opponents. The team will play seven region matches and look to improve after going 4-3 in the region last season.

The Bruins begin the regular season on November 8 as they face Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina.
