Museum centerpiece of May weekend

Spend a ‘Night at The Museum’ and follow that up with a day at a museum.

On Friday, May 19, the Millwald will be hosting a free movie night, showing the comedy “A Night at the Museum” at 7 p.m.

Thanks to the Wythe Bland Foundation, admission is free.

Costumed museum employees from the African American Heritage Museum, Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum, Great Lakes to Florida Highway Museum, Octagan Mansion History Museum, Thomas J. Boyd Museum and Wythe County Decorative Arts Museum will be on hand, handing out free tickets for a museum stop the following day.

On Saturday, May 20, from noon to 4 p.m., participants can bring their free tickets out on the town and tour each of the museums, exploring the town’s history.

The African American Heritage Museum is at 410 East Franklin Street. Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum is located at 145 East Main Street. The Great Lakes To Florida Highway Museum is at 975 Tazewell Street. The Octagon Mansion History Museum is at 585 West Main Street. The Thomas J. Boyd Museum is at 295 Tazewell Street. The Wythe County Decorative Arts Museum is at 1125 Tazewell Street. Free shuttles will be available at the Town of Wytheville Municipal Building parking lot!
