Round the Mountain celebrating Appalachian Arts in April

The ‘Round the Mountain Artisan Network is proud to present the inaugural Southwest Virginia Artisan Conference: Celebrating Appalachian Arts.

The three-day educational conference and networking event will be held April 25-27, in Abingdon. The immersive experience will be a unique gathering that pays homage to the craftsmanship deeply rooted in the Appalachian region.

Attendees can anticipate rich and collaborative opportunities, featuring insightful discussions, hands-on workshops, and networking experiences. More than 150 attendees are expected to attend this first-time event.

“The arts have become a significant economic driver in Southwest Virginia as our region continues to expand the creative economy and become a destination for visitors,” said Kim Davis, Executive Director of ‘Round the Mountain Artisan Network. “For generations, our artisans have created unique pieces to support their family needs and provide high-quality art to admire. As we continue to build this sector as a sustainable part of our economy, we want to make sure artisan entrepreneurs have access to educational sessions that provide successful opportunities for them in the current business environment.”

The conference will allow creatives, businesses, and industry partners to attend sessions on accounting, grant writing, legal aspects of operating a business, in addition to resources specifically for art businesses and thriving as an artist. Attendees will also have the opportunity to add on a pre-conference training with lessons on how to scale their craft hobby to a business model.

Early bird tickets start at $60 for ‘Round the Mountain members and $90 for non-members. Prices will increase beginning in March. Non-members will have the option of applying for a ‘Round the Mountain membership upon registration. Tickets can be purchased at swvaarts.com.
