RR bests Fort

A couple questions surrounding Wythe County showdowns have been answered.

The wasn’t necessarily the answers the Lady Pioneers wanted.

Annabelle Fiscus led the Indians to a 56-44 win over the Fort, scoring 27 by her lonesome. The Fort had earlier beaten back the Lady Indians.

Blair Jackson, Fort’s standout, rang up 16 points. Kara King chipped in 15.

Fiscus sank 18 points on Monday, but the Indian girls still came up short against a Class 3 opponent Christiansburg. The Blue Demons stung Rural Retreat 68-59.

The Pioneer boys held off a remarkable charge in the final stanza to sting Rural Retreat with a 51-48 loss.

The Indians mounted a crazy comeback, putting 25 points on the board in the fourth. A cold first quarter and an absolutely frozen, four-point, second doomed the Rural Retreat crew, though.

Kenton Sutphin led the scoring with 17 points for the Fort. Conley Martin paced Rural Retreat with 16.
