Rural Summit planned for October in Abingdon

THE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA SUN NEWSPAPER AND NEWS WEBSITE

The 2024 Rural Summit, set for Abingdon on Thursday, Oct. 24, will explore how educational opportunity creates economic opportunity.

Virginia Education Secretary Aimee Guidera will present at the event.

The Annual Rural Summit provides professional development, policy insights, best practices, and networking opportunities for leaders and practitioners. Every year, a nationally known keynote speaker heads the event, which includes 20-30 educational workshops.

The Rural Summit convenes leaders and practitioners from across the Commonwealth and North East Tennessee with the goal of bringing high-quality, sought-after professional development informed by state policy. In partnership with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s State Office of Rural Health, the Rural Summit convenes leaders from similar communities who face disproportionate impacts on systems that serve children and families. The event builds a common agenda and aligns partners to address issues common in rural communities.

Tickets will go on sale in August.
