Saltville man facing drinking, driving charges

A Bristol Virginia Sheriff’s Office deputy who lives in Saltville was stopped on Interstate 81 and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing tests.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Nathaniel Channing Call was stopped around 2 a.m. while driving north on I-81 around Exit 10.

The sheriff’s office had been alerted to a vehicle heading north and driving in an erratic manner by the Bristol Tennessee Police Department.

A field sobriety test indicated impairment, but the driver, the sheriff’s office said, refused a breath test and an Alco-Sensor.

Call was off-duty at the time of the stop. According to the Sheriff’s Office he was on administrative leave for a prior DUI. Bond was set at $3,000.
