Smyth Supervisors ready to talk trash

It’s a situation most everyone in Smyth County can relate to.

It’s a Wednesday or a Thursday and you’ve got a car load of trash to dump but can’t remember if the convenience station is open in the morning or the afternoon.

Newly elected board chair Charles Atkins said he’s the world’s worst for it.

Rye Valley Supervisor Lori Deel said that unless something is changed, the county might have to re-brand the dump spots from convenience stations to inconvenience stations.

County leaders were largely in agreement that they’d like to see changes to the trash drop areas, with better hours. The board directed the conversation to the solid waste committee for possible action at a later date.
