Star Spotlight: Bailey serves as leader on, off the field

For Carter Bailey, family comes first.

And the Fort Chiswell junior has a lot of family to think of as the eldest of four brothers.

Next, for Bailey, is his school work.

Third, perhaps, for the honor roll student is the gridiron.

Bailey’s drive and hustle on the football field began when he was 4 years old, playing Pop Warner football under Bud Patillo in Havelock, North Carolina.

The sport he loves has taken him to camps across several states and kept him grounded as he has moved to three different states over the past 12 years.

Bailey has continuously adapted and played with a skill that had him serving as one of Fort Chiswell’s team captains.

Surrounded by a talented team and a dedicated coaching staff, Bailey’s skill continued to improve this year, ending with him being picked to the all-district second team in the Mountain Empire for his role as linebacker.

In addition to linebacker, Bailey has spent time as a halfback, tight end and defensive end.

So what’s next for Bailey?

He hopes to play at the next level.

And speaking of the next level, keep an eye out for the younger Bailey boys, who have an excellent role model on the field and off.
