Tazewell takes down the Fort

It seemed as if the Fort might have it hand as time ticked away on Friday.

The Pioneers held a 34-23 edge over the Bulldogs and the fourth quarter had dawned.

Then came the rally. And a turnover. And another score that put the Bulldogs ahead, ending the Fort Chiswell streak with a 44-34 loss to Tazewell High School.

Mikey Melton had a breakout night for the Pioneers, staring in the first quarter when he found the end zone at the end of a 68-yard run. In the second, Layton Kennedy cruised into a 44-yard run.

After the half, Cam Alley scored on a one-yard plunge. Also in the third, Melton ran the ball in from 18 yards back. Melton scored again in the fourth, this time on a 28-yard haul.
