Thanks to the generosity of the Wythe-Bland Foundation, Wytheville Community College students who will be graduating from Wythe and Bland counties can save up to $2,835 per semester toward tuition at WCC, depending on the number of credits they take.
Students who meet basic residency requirements, and those who graduated in the class of 2020, not only receive scholarship assistance, but they are also given a chance to make connections and give back to their community through the scholarship requirement of completing volunteer community service hours at approved local non-profit organizations.
HOPE, Inc. is among the many local organizations where students receiving the Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship can spend time giving back to their community.

Many of the Wythe-Bland students volunteer to help address the food insecurity needs in the community by working at the Open Door Café, as well as assisting with the HOPE Packs program for K-12 public school students. Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship recipients can also been found volunteering in the main offices of HOPE, Inc.
Ashley Dixon, a 2020 graduate of Rural Retreat High School, is currently enrolled in WCC’s Administration of Justice program. As a recipient of the Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship Program, Dixon has been completing many of her required volunteer service hours at HOPE, Inc., most recently helping paint office walls.
“I have enjoyed volunteering at HOPE. Everyone has been very friendly”, says Dixon. “I am grateful for the support that the Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship has provided. It has removed the stress of paying for college.”
The Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship Program provides tuition and fees not covered by other financial aid; it does not cover textbook costs. As part of the eligibility requirements, students must complete volunteer service hours with approved local organizations.
To apply, students must meet established criteria. Students need to complete the college application, complete an online scholarship application form, have a completed financial aid file, and provide proof of residence in Wythe or Bland County during the past two years.
