Warriors compete at Abingdon track meet

Chilhowie runners competed in a track and field event March 27 in Abingdon.

Tess Somervell continued to dominate, hauling home a gold in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.41, and a silver in the pole vault, clearing an eight-foot bar.

Audrey Gilley added some gold hardware to the haul, finishing first in the triple jump with a 30-foot, 3-inch leap. Gilley took fifth in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 1:06.83. She finished sixth in the long jump, clearing 14 feet, 3.75 inches. Gilley’s 5-foot, 6-inch effort in the pole vault earned her fifth.

Mady Heath had a bronze finish in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a 55.38 finish. Heath was sixth in the pole vault thanks to a 5-foot, 6-inch effort.

Kayman Atwell took fourth in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 28.72. She finished ninth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.80. In the long jump, Atwell leapt for 14 feet, 8.25 inches, claiming fourth.

Tori Blackwell finished fourth in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:59.41.

In the 100-meter dash, Diamond Miller finished in 16. Jayda Miller was 28th and Kiera Dunford 32nd. Josie Couch took 35th. Miller was 11th in the 200-meter dash.

Lindsey Donnelly was 11th in the 800-meter run, and Eden Hancock finished 13th in the same event.

Natalie Testerman took ninth in the discus and 17th in the shot put. Allee Blevins was eighth in the shot put and 10th in the discus. Mattison McClure was 16th in both the shot put and the discus. Cheyenne Greer took 19th in the discus. Madison Gwinn finished in 20th in both the discus and shot put. Sunni Martin took 22nd in the shot put.

Three Chilhowie boys brought home silver medals from the Abingdon meet.

J.T. Moore finished second in the pole vault, clearing 7 feet. Moore was fourth in the 3200-meter run, completing it in 11:40.72.

Lucas Hubble claimed second in the 1600-meter run, posting a time of 4:58.01. Edgar Bal was 15th in the same event, finishing in 8:31.70.

Jackson Holbrook took second in the shot put with a 42-foot, 1.5-inch toss. He was 13th in the discus tossing for 101 feet, 6 inches.

Bransen Gwinn finished third in the shot put with a 41-foot, 5.5-inch heave. Gwinn and Luke Montgomery tied for 24th in the discus. Montgomery was 21st in the shot put.

Aidan Broughman finished fourth in the discus with a 120-foot, 1-inch throw. Broughman was 11th in the shot put. Caleb Cook took 23rd in the shot put and the discus throw.

Mason Lee finished fourth in the 800-meter run, turning in a time of 2:17.17.

Jake Russell finished ninth in the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the long jump. In the 200, Russell finished in 24.99. He finished in 57.68 in the 400 and in the long jump cleared 19 feet, 1.5 inches.

Cian Ratcliff finished 10th in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking in at 52.25.

Marcos Silverio finished 30th in the 100-meter dash and 13th in the long jump. Colten Gentry was 38th in the 100-meter dash and 28th in the 200-meter dash. Kainan Biller was 42nd in the 100-meter dash and 21st in the long jump.

In the 200-meter dash, Martin Widener took 34th. He finished 18th in the 400-meter dash. Also in the 400, Nolan Blevins secured 19th, Mason Adams finished 23rd and Nate Thomas 26th.
