Warriors make strong showing at track meet

The Chilhowie girls took first and the boys were second in the May 25 Cavalier Invitational track and field meet hosted by Holston.

The Warrior girls finished with 130 team points and the boys with 102.5.

Audrey Gilley and Jonathan Gilley each hauled in a gold in the 400-meter dash. Audrey led the girls’ field at 1:07.40. Jonathan clocked in at 53.72. Hunter Hall was sixth in the boys’ race, finishing in 1:02.37.

Lucas Blevins also brought home a gold, taking first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.93.

Audrey Gilley notched her second first with a time of 32.06 in the 200-meter dash. Hannah Manns claimed the silver, clocking in at 35.11. Courtney Blevins was sixth with a time of 38.23. Lauren Manis took eighth, stopping the clock at 39.73.

Manns got her gold in the long jump, leaping 12 feet, 11 inches for first. Haylee Jo Harris was fifth with an 11-foot, 3-inch jump. Manns was first, too, in the triple jump, clearing 30 feet, 5.5 inches.

Jonathan Gilley secured second in the long jump, leaping 18 feet, 5 inches. Jonathan Gilley took first in the triple jump, leaping 39 feet, 0.25 inches.

Gwen Robbins claimed the top spot in the shot put, tossing 29 feet, 4 inches. Lakken Hanshew took second with a 29-foot toss. Madison Prater’s 28-foot, 10-inch heave was good for third. Caitlin Pierce took sixth with a 28-foot, 2-inch throw. Ashlynn Booth finished 10th, hitting a 23-foot, 9-inch mark. Harper Adams’ 22 feet, 3 inches earned 12th.

In the 100-meter dash, Autumn Green took third with a time of 14.72. Robbins’ 17.57 earned her ninth. Blevins was 10th with a time of 17.74. Manis claimed 11th, clocking in at 17.83. Cierra Kegley turned in a time of 18.74 to finish 12th.

Chase Lewis claimed fourth in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 12.40. Lewis was third in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a time of 49.22. Lewis took fourth in the long jump, clearing 17 feet, 9.5 inches.

In the 1600-meter run, Mason Lee clocked in at 5:40.09 to earn third. Jaden Delp was sixth with a time of 6:08.90.

Tess Somervell took second in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:44.09. Kayman Atwell was fourth with a time of 3:09.40. Abby Poole stopped the clock at 3:27.76 to finish sixth. In seventh, Kenna Russell finished in 3:28.36. Ashley Mixon took eighth, clocking in at 3:32.52.

In the boys’ 200-meter dash, Josh Tuell was fifth, finishing in 27.35. Jacob Blackwell took seventh, clocking in at 32.81. Noah Ring finished in 36.78 to claim ninth place.

Tuell took second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 4 inches. He was third in the long jump, hitting 18 feet, 2 inches. Tuell’s 37-foot, 8-inch leap in the triple jump gave him third. Hunter Hall was fourth in the triple jump, with a 33-foot, 4.5-inch effort.

In the boys shot put, Gabino Silverio led the Warriors with a 31-foot, 8-inch toss. Nate Taylor’s 30-foot, 2-inch effort earned him eighth. Cole Miller grabbed ninth with a 30-foot toss. Jacob Dorn hit the 29-foot, 4-inch mark for 10th place. Blake Pappas earned 13th with a 27-foot, 2-inch throw.

Taylor was sixth in the discus, tossing 79 feet, 5 inches. Silverio’s 70 feet, 8 inches was good for ninth. Pappas was 13th with a 48-foot, 1-inch toss. Blackwell was 14th, hitting 41 feet, 4 inches.

Madison Prater led the Warrior girls in discus, taking third with a 78-foot, 6-iunch toss. Hanshew was fifth with 70 feet, 6 inches. Adams took sixth with a 66-foot, 4-inch throw. Robbins claimed 10th, hitting 57 feet, 2 inches. Booth’s 56-foot, 8-inch effort earned her 11th.

Chilhowie’s girls were first in the 4×800 meter relay, clocking in at 13:29.00. The boys’ team was second, finishing in 10:41.44. Both teams were second in the 4×100-meter relay, with the girls stopping the watches at 1:00.58 and the boys clocking in at 47.15. The Warrior girls also took second in the 4×400 meter relay, posting a time of 4:49.98.
