Chilhowie came out of the gate swinging, following up seven first-inning runs with five in the second inning, before cruising to a 14-1 victory over George Wythe.
Talan Poe and Isaac Booth led the Chilhowie offensive charge, with each driving in three runs. Dawson Tuell drove in a pair of runs. Connor Smith took Maroon pitcher Carson Stanley deep for a solo home run while Landon Bowman knocked in a run on a triple.
Tandom Smith pushed GW’s run across the plate in the fourth.
Chilhowie’s Smith played a big part, too, in Chilhowie’s season-opener against Grayson County. Smith crushed a three-run dinger in a seven-run fourth inning, leading the Warriors to a 16-4 victory.
Chilhowie bats got to talking as the Lady Warriors opened up their season with a 12-2 win over Grayson County.
Lexi Williams collected three hits to lead Chilhowie offensively. Emmaline Dowell picked up the win in the circle, striking out four.
