World War II book re-published

Jan-Carol Publishing, Inc., of Johnson City, Tennessee, is proud to announce the republish of Those Devils in Baggy Pants, originally written by Ross S. Carter, now revised and updated by David Ross Fraley.

A best seller, Those Devils in Baggy Pants was originally published in 1951 by Ross S. Carter, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. Carter, one of the three surviving members of his original platoon and Silver Star and Purple Heart awardee, was never able to see his book in print. He passed of cancer shortly before his work was completed, leaving his brother to edit the final chapters from Carter’s notes.

After the original publication in 1951, Those Devils in Baggy Pants sold one million copies, was a Readers Digest condensed book, and was translated into multiple languages.

Years after being out of print, Those Devils in Baggy Pants is being republished by a member of Carter’s own family — David Ross Fraley. Fraley’s father and Ross Carter were cousins, and it is from Carter that Fraley draws his name sake. In republishing his relative’s incredible tale it is Fraley’s hope to honor both story and storyteller.

Those Devils in Baggy Pants is Carter’s WWII memoir. It revolves around the C Company of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment 82nd Airborne Division. This novel is a love story. It centers on the love that those who shared the battlefield have, that is unparalleled in all other affections. With the novel’s republish comes additions about Carter and his writing process, as well the story’s history since becoming a best seller.

Those Devils in Baggy Pants is available to purchase now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble.com, and directly through JCP.
