Wrestlers look to finish December strong

Rural Retreat squeaked by Grayson County in a tri-meet at home with the Blue Devils and Floyd County.

The Indians shut out the Buffaloes, 46-0, and beat Grayson 42-40.

Grayson whipped the Buffs 70-6.

Rural Retreat grapplers followed up the win with a 55-3 victory over county rival George Wythe, a 48-33 win over Radford and a 45-33 loss to Union.

On Dec. 14, Marion travels to Rural Retreat to try their luck with the Indians. The Rural Retreat crew on Dec. 16 and 17 will be in Wise at the Bobby Bates tourney and will head into the holidays with a Wednesday, Dec. 21 home stand against Abingdon.

GW will also be at the Bobby Bates Classic on Dec. 16 and 17. On Dec. 21, the Maroons travel to Pulaski to take on the Cougars at 10 a.m. After the Bates, the Fort Chiswell Pioneers close out 2022 with a trip to Grundy on Dec. 21.

Chilhowie will battle at the Alleghany Duals in North Carolina on Saturday and host Tennessee High at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13. The Warriors visit Marion at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15.
