Fort Chiswell’s boys took Part II in a non-conference matchup with Wythe County rival Rural Retreat, besting the Indians 63-53 at home on Dec. 6. On Dec. 2, The Pioneers beat the Indians 48-36.
Rural Retreat’s girls on Dec. 6 held on to take the second set between the two teams, holding off a Pioneer rally in the fourth quarter to claim a 35-33 victory. Fort Chiswell’s 18-point final stanza wasn’t enough to overcome a lackluster first three quarters.
At Rural Retreat on Dec. 2, the Indians hung a 53-42 loss on the Pioneers.
The Fort Chiswell and George Wythe basketball quad set for Friday, Dec. 9, was postponed.
The Pioneer boys are scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Grayson County High School for a 4 p.m. split quad.
On Friday, Dec. 16, the FC boys will host Carroll County at 7:15 p.m., and travel to Giles for a 7:15 p.m. game on Dec. 21.
The First Community Bank Christmas Tournament at Fort Chiswell High School will be held Dec. 27-29.
The varsity Fort girls will be at Grayson County High on Dec. 13 for a 6 p.m. split squad tip-off.
The FC girls host Narrows on Wednesday, Dec. 14 for a 7:15 p.m. game.
The Danny Jonas Memorial Christmas Tournament kicks off for the varsity girls on Dec. 20 and runs through Dec. 22.
The Lady Pioneers close out 2022 with a road trip to Lebanon on Dec. 28 for a 3:15 game with the Russell County Pioneers.
The Indian boys host Grayson County on Monday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m., and welcome Marion Senior High for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday, Dec. 15.
On Monday, Dec. 19, the Rural Retreat crew travels to Grayson County for a 7:30 p.m. game. The Indians will travel to Bear country in Bland for a Thursday, Dec. 29, game at Bland County High School at 8:30 p.m.
The Indians close out 2022 with a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday, Dec. 30, hosting Eastern Montgomery.
The Lady Indians play host at 6 p.m. to the Blue Devils on Monday, Dec. 12. Marion will stop by Rural Retreat for a 6 p.m. quad on Thursday, Dec. 15.
The Rural Retreat girls will take part in a Christmas tournament hosted by Fort Chiswell on Dec. 20-22, and make a trip to Bland County for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday, Dec. 29. Rural Retreat will end 2022 with a home game at 7:30 p.m. against Narrows.
George Wythe’s boys on Dec. 7 handed the Scarlet Hurricanes a 64-58 loss at home.
The Maroon boys will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at an 8:45 p.m. game at Giles High School. On Friday, Dec. 16, GW will host Auburn at 7:30 p.m. and will play host to Galax at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The Maroon boys take on Graham at Graham Middle School at 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 22, and will end their 2022 segment of the schedule with tournament play at Fort Chiswell.
The Lady Maroons face off next at Giles High on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:15 p.m., and host Auburn for a 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, game.
Galax will make a stop at George Wythe on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. The Lady Maroons finish out 2022 with a 7:15 p.m. game on Thursday, Dec. 22 at Graham Middle School.
Chilhowie on Dec. 2, got past a tough Tazewell crew, sending the Bulldogs home with a 74-71 loss.
Chilhowie’s boys team next plays on Friday, Dec. 9, hosting Abingdon at 7:15 p.m. On Monday, Dec. 12, the Warriors travel to Castlewood High for a 7:30 p.m. game, and make a Friday, Dec. 16, trip up I-81 to Marion for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
Tazewell visits Chilhowie at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, in a game rescheduled from Dec. 8.
On Tuesday, Dec. 22, Chilhowie will host the Hurricane boys at 7 p.m. From Dec. 27-30, Chilhowie will play in a tournament at UVA-Wise.
On Dec. 6, Marion beat Northwood 63-40, bouncing back from a 57-53 loss to Holston.
The Lady Canes on Dec. 6 beat the Panthers 58-6, coming off a 66-33 win over Holston on Dec. 5.
Marion’s Canes travel to Northwood next on Tuesday, Dec. 13, taking on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. On Dec. 15, the Canes make a trip into Wythe, playing Rural Retreat at 7:30 p.m., before hosting Chilhowie on Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 22, the Canes travel to Chilhowie for a 7 p.m. game, and round out 2022 with a UVA-Wise tournament from Dec. 27-30.
The Lady Canes travel to Northwood for a 6 p.m. tip-off against the Panthers on Tuesday, Dec. 13. On Dec. 15, the Canes tangle with the Indians at Rural Retreat at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 29, Marion hosts John S. Battle for a 7:30 p.m. game and wraps up the 2022 calendar year at home against Lebanon on Friday, Dec. 30.
Northwood on Dec. 3 dropped a 57-34 contest against Eastside.
The Panther boys wrap up their 2022 with a 7:30 p.m. game hosting Smyth rival Marion.
Northwood girls travel to Council High for a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Dec. 9, followed by a tournament game on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Twin Valley High School. The Lady Panthers welcome the Canes at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, and travel to Hurley High for a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Dec. 16. Northwood wraps up 2022 at the Fort Chiswell Christmas tournament on Dec. 21-23.
