A Bristol, Tennessee, man died in the early morning hours of April 13 in Wytheville.
Virginia State Police reported that a trooper responded to a 12:23 a.m. single-vehicle crash near the Rural Retreat exit on Interstate 81.
A 1995 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling north on I-81, police said, when it ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.
The driver, 40-year-old Gerald R. Camper Jr., died at the scene.
Police noted he was wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation.
