McWane Pool in Wytheville will open for the season on Wednesday, June 1.
The pool will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. through Aug. 14.
Rural Retreat Lake & Campground’s pool will open again for swimmers and sunbathers this Memorial Day weekend.
Memorial Day weekend hours are Saturday, May 28, from noon to 6 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, May 30 from noon to 6 p.m. through Monday, May 30, 2022. Saturday and Monday’s hours of operation will be 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday is 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Pool admission is $4 per person, with ages 2 and under free.
“We are excited to be opening and serving our patrons for another year,” said Wythe County’s Park and Recreation Director Kevin Williams. “We have a lot of returning staff and have made improvements in the pump room that will help with long-term upkeep and reduce the amount of labor for maintenance.”
After Memorial Day weekend, regular hours for June and August are Thursday through Saturday from 12-6 p.m. and Sundays from 1-6 p.m.
In July, the pool will be open every day, Monday-Saturday 12-6 p.m. and Sundays 1-6 p.m.
Once schools return to session in August, the pool will only be open on Saturdays 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day, when the pool will close for the season.
Additionally, Rural Retreat Campground is open for the 2022 season through mid- September. The campground has shelters to rent for family reunions, baby showers, graduations, and other celebrations. Prices vary by shelter and event length. Rural Retreat Campground also offers tent and RV camp sites. Tent/primitive sites are $20 a day. RV Sites with electric and water only are $30 a day.
