Wytheville bringing back summer camps

The town of Wytheville is bringing back two popular summer camps this year.

The kids public safety camp, for students first grade and up, is set for July 12 to 16. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants get to spend a week with crews from Wytheville’s fire and rescue and police departments. Cost is $25 per student with scholarships and multiple child discounts available.

Registration is open and camp is expected to fill up quickly.

The town is also running a history camp from 9 a.m. to noon from July 19 to 23 for students first grade through sixth.

Participants will get the opportunity to explore the Homestead Museum and experience everyday life as an early settler in Southwest Virginia. The camp is free thanks to a sponsorship from the Wythe County Historical Society.
