Wytheville officials approve traffic control requests

Wytheville Town Council had a productive meeting on Thursday, approving several requests for traffic control and scheduling important public hearings. The council approved the request of Downtown Wytheville, Incorporated to provide traffic control on Thursday, July 4, for the Fourth of July Celebration & Street Festival. Additionally, they approved the request of Wythe Arts Council, Ltd. for traffic control on Saturday, Oct. 19, for the Arts at the Crossroads/Apple Atcha Fest. The council also granted the request of the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce for traffic control on Friday, May 3, for a Community Connections Day event.

In other business, the council scheduled a public hearing for the April 22 meeting to consider a revised Master Fee Schedule that includes water and sewer rate increases. They also approved a resolution authorizing Town staff to apply for Congressionally Directed Spending funding. Furthermore, the council scheduled another public hearing for the same meeting to consider the Meals Tax Rate not to exceed 9 percent and the Lodging Tax Rate not to exceed 10 percent for Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
