Youth Music Festival Features New Competition and Prizes

The Crooked Road will host a Next Generation Youth Music Festival & Competition on Saturday, May 11, at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace. Registration begins at noon with the competition beginning at 1 p.m., but registration will remain open until the end of the competition. There will be a youth jam session immediately following the competition until 6 p.m.

The music competition will feature over $1500 in cash prizes for individual instruments and bands. Categories include Fiddle, Guitar, Mandolin, Clawhammer Banjo, Bluegrass Banjo, Folk Song, Other, Old Time Band and Bluegrass Band.

Prizes for individual instruments are first place: $100, second place: $50, third place: $25. The band competition prizes will be first place: $150, second place: $100, second place: $75.
