Crigger hauls in load of gold

Rural Retreat’s Olivia Crigger brought home a stack of gold from Patrick Henry High School’s Judy Thomas Invitational track meet on April 11, leading the Indians to a fifth-place team finish with 58 points.

Crigger scored to a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, stopping the watches at 16.72.

She was first, too, in the high jump, clearing a 4-foot, 10-inch bar, and first in the long jump with a 17-foot, 2-inch leap. Crigger’s 34-foot, 6-inch leap in the triple jump earned first as well. She earned fourth in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 28.44.

Crigger also anchored Rural Retreat’s fourth-place 4×100 meter relay team. Others on the crew included Makayla Anderson, Delanie Trivitt and Annabelle Fiscus.

Fort Chiswell took fifth in the 4×100, and the George Wythe team of Keira Scott, Ava Fowler, McKenzie Tate and Haley Faulkner rolled to first with a time of 53.54.

In the 1000-meter relay, George Wythe’s foursome of Alys Spangler, El Richardson, Keiera Scott and Ava Fowler clocked in at 2:58.14 to earn fourth place. Chilhowie’s Allee Blevins, Presley Frye, Isaabell Payan and Ashley Mixon took sixth with a time of 3:03.29.

Chilhowie’s Madison Prater hauled home a gold, too, taking first in the shot put thanks to a 32-foot, 1-inch effort.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Ella Richardson of George Wythe took third, clocking in at 18.63. Makayla Anderson of Rural Retreat finished fifth with a time of 20.23. Aurora Haywood of Fort Chiswell clocked in at 20.38 to earn seventh. In 10th, Paige Olinger of Northwood clocked in at 22.92.
GW’s McKenzie Tate earned third in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 1:01.92. Annabelle Fiscus of Rural Retreat clocked in at 1:11.21 to take seventh. Chilhowie’s Isabella Payan was ninth, finishing at 1:12.57.
In the 100-meter dash, Keira Scott of George Wythe recorded a 13.58 time, earning fifth. Haley Faulkner took seventh with a time of 13.64. Autumn Green of Chilhowie finished in ninth posting a time of 13.81. George Wythe’s Ava Fowler earned 11th with a time of 13.99. In 12th was Kayman Atwell of Chilhowie, clocking in at 14.08. At 14.12, finishing 13th was Elissa Viars of Fort Chiswell. FC’s Carmen Brown took 14th with a time of 14.18. Hannah Manns of Chilhowie earned 20th with a time of 14.53, and Marion’s Laken Foutz took 24th with a 14.81. Alyssa Tolbert, also of Marion, clocked in at 14.87, taking 26th. Marion’s Emily Hash recorded a 14.95 finish to earn 27th, and Kenleigh Kilgore of Fort Chiswell finished in 30th place with a time of 15.27.

Fort Chiswell’s Katie Alderman nabbed third in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking in at 55.58. Ella Richardson of George Wythe was fifth, stopping the clock at 58.97. Makayla Anderson of Rural Retreat grabbed seventh with a time of 1:01.58.
In the 800-meters, Tess Somervell of Chilhowie took silver with a time of 2:31.39. Kenna Russell of Chilhowie was 10th, finishing in 3:03.84. Emily Jones of Fort Chiswell finished in 13th with a 3:12.97, and Carissa Smith of Fort Chiswell clocked in at 3:15.64 to earn 14th. Chilhowie’s Presley Frye finished in 15th with a 3:29.77.
McKenzie Tate of George Wythe took second in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.53. Teammates Haley Faulkner and Keira Scott took fifth and eight, respectively with times of 28.46 and 29.38. Kayman Atwell of Chilhowie clocked in at 30.07 to take 10th. Elissa Viars of Fort Chiswell earned 11th with a time of 30.28, and Carmen Brown of Fort Chiswell finished in 30.57 to take 14th. Fort Chiswell’s Katie Alderman finished in 15th with a time of 30.60. Ava Fowler of George Wythe earned 16th with a time of 30.66, and Annabelle Fiscus of Rural Retreat clocked in at 31.15 for 19th while Delanie Trivitte earned 22nd with a time of 31.88. Isabella Payan of Chilhowie grabbed 24th with a time of 32.28 and Emily Hash of Marion clocked in at 32.68 to earn 26th. Marion’s Alyssa Tobert finished in 33.56, good for 28th.
Marion’s Raegan Cox finished second in the high jump with a 4-foot, 10-inch leap. Katie Alderman of Fort Chiswell earned fifth, clearing 4 feet, 4 inches, and her teammate Elissa Viars tied for seventh with Haley Faulkner of George Wythe with each clearing 4 feet, 2 inches. Laken Foutz of Marion finished 12th with a 3-foot, 10-inch jump.
In the long jump, Haley Faulkner took fifth with a 14-foot, 8-inch leap. Carmen Brown of Fort Chiswell was sixth, clearing 14 feet, 6 inches, and Marion’s Brooke Langston jumped 14 feet, 1 inch for eight place. Autumn Green of Chilhowie was 11th, clearing 13 feet, 8.5 inches and Kayman Atwell’s 13 feet, 7.25 inches earned 13th. Elissa Viars of Fort Chiswell
jumped 13 feet, 6 inches for 14th place, and Katie Alderman earned 16th with a 13-foot, 5.25-inch jump. Annabelle Fiscus of Rural Retreat finished in 17th with a 13-foot, 4-inch jump. Marion’s Raegan Cox took 19th with a 13-foot, 2-inch jump while teammate Emily Hash’s 12 feet, 8 inches earned 22nd. George Wythe’s Alyssa Spangler cleared 11 feet, 0.5 inches for 29th.
Hannah Manns of Chilhowie leapt to third in the triple jump, clearing 30 feet, 1 inch. Haley Faulkner of GW finished fourth with a 30-foot, 8-inch jump. Fort Chiswell’s Katie Alderman finished fifth and Aurora Haywood in seventh. Alderman jumped 30 feet, 4.75 inches. Haywood clearned 29 feet, 4.5 inches. Chilhowie’s Kayman Atwell jumped 28 feet, 6 inches for 10th place. Emily Jones of Fort Chiswell took 11th with a 27-foot, 11.7-inch leap. Brooke Langston of Marion finished in 12th with a 27-foot, 11-inch jump.
In the shot put, Chilhowie’s Gwen Robbins finished third, clearing 31 feet, 9 inches. George Wythe’s Anastasia Kapranos finished 11th with a 23-foot, 6-inch toss. In 12th, Carissa Smith of Fort Chiswell threw for 21 feet, 8.5 inches. Allee Blevins of Chilhowie cleared 21 feet, 6 inches for 14th and Summer Turley of Northwood tossed for 21 feet, 5.5 inches for 15th. Hannah Funk of Marion hand a 20-foot, 6.25 put for 18th. Fort Chiswell’s Audrey Hurst threw for 16 feet, 2 inches to take 22nd.

In the discus, Chilhowie’s Madison Prater was third, throwing for 90 feet, 6 inches. Summer Turley of Northwood tossed for 77 feet, 11 inches to grab seventh, and Harper Adams of Chilhowie earned eighth with a 77-foot, 5-inch throw. Gwen Robbins of Chilhowie took eighth with 71 feet, 4 inches. Hannah Funk of Marion was 15th tossing for 65 feet, 3 inches while Anastasia Kapranos of George Wythe finished in 18th, throwing 62 feet, 5 inches. A 54-foot, 4-inch toss landed Marion’s Alyssa Tolbert in 21st place, while Northwood’s Joy Zhang finished in 22nd with a 53-foot, 5-inch throw. Fort Chiswell’s Carissa Smith finished in 24th with a 51-foot, 11-inch toss.

The GW girls finished fourth with 60.5 team points. Chilhowie took seventh, earning 40 points. Fort Chiswell was 10th, earning 26.5 points, and Marion’s nine points were good for 12th. Northwood finished in 15th with two points.
