Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Combine For Six School Records Against Carson-Newman Friday

 The Emory & Henry College Men’s & Women’s Swimming Teams got the dual meet portion of their season started on Friday afternoon, facing South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman University at home. The Wasps’ men’s team broke four school records despite falling to the Eagles, 198-72, while the women’s squad posted a pair of new program marks as C-N took the meet by a 198-62 margin.

The Men
– Junior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) posted a pair of runner-up finishes to lead the Wasps. He broke the school record in the 50-meter freestyle with his time of :24.02 while his performance of 1:00.25 in the 100-meter butterfly was also good for second.
– Freshman Noah Day (Milton, Fla.) eclipsed the previous E&H best in the 200-meter butterfly, swimming a 2:19.08 to finish second. He was also third in the 100-fly (1:00.70).
– Freshman Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) claimed second in the 200-meter individual medley, earning a new team mark with his swim of 2:20.15.
– Sophomore Owen Seymour (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) was the runner-up in the 100-meter freestyle (:55.52) as freshman Peter Davis (Manassas, Va.) took second in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:52.07.
– Sophomore Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.) was third in both the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.47) and the 200-meter backstroke (2:25.00). Freshman Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) touched third in the 200-meter freestyle, clocking a 2:20.13.
– The Wasps got top-three finishes from all four of their relays with the 200-meter medley relay taking second in 1:50.19.
– E&H closed out the meet with a final record in the 400-meter freestyle relay as Kidd, Seymour, Jones and Day went a 3:48.41.

The Women
– Sophomore Samantha Pepevnik (Porsgrunn, NORWAY) broke two records on the evening, pacing Emory & Henry’s performance. She was second in the 200-meter backstroke with a new school-best time of 2:27.82 while her swim of 1:07.99 in the 100-meter backstroke was good for third and another program record. She was also third in the 100-meter butterfly (1:12.06).
– Sophomore Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) was the runner-up in the 200-meter freestyle at 2:16.39 while freshman Bella Cress (Gibsonville, N.C.) was second in the 800-free at 10:19.31.
– Junior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) went for third in both the 200-meter butterfly (2:36.88) and the 200-meter individual medley (2:40.10).
– Junior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) stopped the watches in :28.32 to take third in the 50-free while freshman Jaxon Thurman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) was third in the 100-free at 1:08.11. Junior Rachel Ritter (Gibsonville, N.C.) placed third in the 200-meter breaststroke at 2:58.27.
– The Wasps earned a trio of top-threes in the relays, going 2-3 in the 400-meter freestyle relay and taking third in the 200-meter medley relay.
