Another Honaker football game saw another late-game comeback. Only this time it wasn’t the Tigers doing the coming back. It was Galax.
By the end of the first stanza, the Maroon Tide trailed Honaker 22-14.
A 21-6 run in the second quarter put the boys from Galax on top to stay, earning them a ticket to the state title game. Galax cemented the win in the third quarter with a 14-0 run. Honaker mounted a comeback attempt in the final frame, putting eight on the board, but wound up suffering a 49-36 loss.
Galax will face Essex on Dec. 9 at 5 p.m.
