Maryland woman facing attempted carjacking charges

Deputies responded to a 10 a.m. call to the Marathon gas station in Glade Spring on Oct. 25 for reports of a woman pointing a firearm at a man at the fuel pumps.

When officers arrived, the woman, identified as Yolanda Nicole Jackman of Mount Airy, Maryland, was being held on the ground by the man.

The man was later determined to be the victim. He and other bystanders gave statements that Jackman had brandished a firearm while he was fueling his vehicle and demanded he give her his vehicle. The man took the firearm from Jackman and held her until law enforcement arrived.

Jackman is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail facility in Abingdon, charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony, attempted carjacking and brandishing a firearm.

Deputies later learned of a carjacking that occurred in Kingsport, Tennessee, where a 2002 Lexus was taken at gunpoint. Working with the Kingsport Police Department, Washington County deputites located the stolen care at Giardino Pizzeria, next to the Marathon.
