Cynthia Marie Archer

Cynthia Marie Archer, 59, died Monday, April 10, 2023, at Carrington Place at Wytheville.

Archer was born in Westminster, Maryland, to the late Barbara Weller and Swanson Archer.  She  enjoyed reading, attending church, and spending time with her beloved cats.

Survivors include her aunt, Brenda Cox and husband, Richard; cousin Cathy Blair and husband, Troy; great-nephews Chase and Grayson Blair; and special friends Ray Archer and Diana Richardson.

Nancy Sue Sult Cregger

Nancy Sue Sult Cregger, 91, of Wytheville died Saturday, April 15, 2023.

She was born Aug. 19, 1931, to the late Walter Ray and Mabel Lewellyn Sult. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Friel Cregger Sr.; one son, Friel Cregger, Jr.; four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are daughters Sherrl Walters (Smitty) of Wytheville, Teresa Edwards (Kelvin) of Moneta. Sharon Cregger, Terry Peak of Wytheville, and Lynn Cregger (daughters Jessie and Michelle) of Wytheville; one son Kenneth Cregger (Rhonda) of Wytheville; several grandchildren, James Wise Jr. (Mary Leigh), Kelvin Edwards Jr., Jason Walters (Jeannie), Jana Walters, Jett, Hunter Kathryn and Eva Kendele Cregger; deveral great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor and friend Kathleen “Katherine” Seagle.

Burial is in Mt. Pleasant Community Cemetery.

Scott Craig DeHart

Scott Craig DeHart, 66, of Rocky Gap died Sunday, April 16, 2023.

DeHart was born Oct. 11, 1956, to the late Richard Franklin DeHart and Bobbie Jo Hutchinson Tolbert. DeHart was a computer programmer before IT was ever an acronym. He worked with his family in the pharmaceutical industry for both GIV and for Niftus. More recently, you would find him greeting guests, answering phones, and otherwise bringing his light to those visiting the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre in Wytheville as he worked in its box office. DeHart was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of an array of subjects. He read voraciously, loved cinema and was a passionate learner. He enjoyed conversation and engaging with people. He was clever, he was personable, and he will be remembered as a unique individual.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chris DeHart and Melanie Hanshew of Rocky Gap; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica DeHart and James “Jake” Prescott Lewis of Wytheville; two grandsons, Talon Boniface of Marion and Oscar Lewis (aged 4 weeks) of Wytheville; and brothers Richard DeHart, Patrick and Sheri Sutphin, and Eden and Brandon Speer.

Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Temple Hill Cemetery in

Judith Frances Sifford Fletcher

Judith Frances Sifford Fletcher, 79, of Wytheville, died April 10, 2023.

She was born Feb. 9, 1944, to the late Harmon Sifford, and Barbara Sifford Harkrader and preceded in death by a sister, Martha Reed; son-in-law, Wayne Albritton.

Fletcher is survived by her husband, Ray Fletcher; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri Albritton, Terri and Tony Corvin, Kim and Joe Hash; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Melanie Thornton; grandchildren Brinkley Hash, MyKenna Hash, Gracie Thornton and Seth Thornton; sisters Ella Page and Eunice Montgomery; brother Curtis Sifford; and several nieces and nephews.

James “Jimmy” Wiley Hall Jr.

James “Jimmy” Wiley Hall Jr., 69, died Thursday, April 13, 2023 at his home in Davis Valley.

Hall was born in Marion to the late James and Helga Hall. He started his career working in the lumber yard with Virginia House Furniture. Working his way up into management and continuing with the company as they transitioned into Vaughn Bassett and lastly Wellborn Cabinet Company where he retired as lead kiln operator. After retirement, Hall enjoyed working with his brothers and other family members on the farm. Hall had a passion for hunting and being outdoors. He was an avid deer, raccoon, and squirrel hunter throughout the years. He also was a big fan of Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat. Most of all, Hall loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years Kathy Abel Hall; two children Jamie Hall and wife, Heather, and Kelli Hedrick and husband, Evan; grandchildren Hayden Hall, Ainsley Hall, Brennor Hedrick and Nash Hedrick; brothers Bobby Hall and wife, Doris, Terry Hall, David Hall and special friend Holly Crase, and Daniel Hall; sisters Lilly Moore and husband, Gary, Dorothy Atkins and husband, John, Phyllis Burcham and husband, Andy, Linda Hagee, and Valerie Hall; close nephew, farmhand, and racing buddy Ethan Hall; and several other loving nieces, nephews and the Abel Family.

Garry Ray Havens

Garry Ray Havens, 63, died April 14, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

 Havens was a talented builder and throughout the years he built many houses all over Smyth and Wythe counties. People always loved and knew him when they needed a heat pump too. He was a wonderful dad, a loving husband and the cool grandpa “Gar”. Havens had a green thumb and a lead foot. He loved working in his flowers and being around old fast cars

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Garry and Beatrice Havens; wife, Becky Havens.

 Havens is survived by his daughter, Amy Cox and fiancé, Jeremy Martin; son, Jason Havens, both of Marion; and three grandchildren, Samuel Lee Walker Cox, Mattie Lou Cox and Evangeline Sky Havens.

Donnie W. Lyles

Donnie W. Lyles, 70, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Lyles was born Feb. 24, 1953, to the late Fred and Hazel Peake Lyles. Lyles worked many years at the Piggly Wiggly and then retired from Marley Moldings. He enjoyed working on model cars, cooking, and gardening. Lyles had a passion for playing music, especially his guitar.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Lyles; four children, Donovan Lyles and wife, Donna, Angie Barr and husband, Butch, Abigail Teaters and husband, Barney, and Leanna Lyles; four brothers Randall Lyles and wife, Linda, Kenny Lyles, Jimmy Lyles and wife, Christine, and Ronnie Lyles; grandchildren Kayla Lyles, Brandon Barr, Peyton Barr, Cameron Barr, Kacey Lyles and Joey Lyles; great-grandchildren Waylon Pruitt, Emersyn Barr, and Maven Barr; several nieces, nephews; and special friends Wayne Woods, Kevin Ishihara, and Don Henderlite.

Allie Jane Saferight Moore

Allie Jane Saferight Moore, 87, of Rural Retreat died Thursday, April 13, 2023.

She was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Wythe County, daughter of the late James Ribble and Violet Reed Saferight.

She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Moore and her sister, Phyllis McPeak; two brothers, James Edgar Saferight and Eullus Saferight. Moore was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Robert Anthony “Tony” Moore and wife, Janet, of Clarksville, Tennessee; grandson, Joshua Moore; two great-grandchildren, Giannia Moore and Knox Moore; brother, Landon Saferight and wife, Patricia, of Wytheville; and a niece, Jeanette McGuire and husband, Johnny, of Bristol, Virginia.

Burial wasat Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery on Peppers Ferry Road, Wytheville.

Teresa Lynn Overbay

Teresa Lynn Overbay, 61, died April 18, 2023, at her home in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina.

Overbay was born Nov. 21, 1961, in Portsmouth, Virginia,  to the late Hubert Overbay and Grace Jones Overbay and was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah Perkins.

She is survived by her sister, Juanita Overbay; companion, Mark Riggs; children, Serena Perkins, Kimberly Melton; and grandchildren, Makenzie, Whitney, Kaylin, Ericka, Brexton, and Kameron.

The family will receive friends on Saturday April 22, from noon to 2 p.m. at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow in Wassum Cemetery. Geneva Rowland Pickle

Geneva Rowland Pickle, 95, mother, aunt and friend to many, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

 Pickle, affectionately called “Tishie” by many in her family, was born April 19, 1927 to the late Reaves L. and Myrtle Matheson Rowland.

She thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors in her yard and garden. Her quiet determination, her smiling face, soft laugh and generous heart will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know her.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Pickle; brothers Rex A. Rowland, Burl L. Rowland, Harold D. Roland Sr., and T.J. Rowland; son-in-law, Gary Wayne Phibbs.

 Pickle is survived by her daughter, Sharon Pickle Phibbs of Chilhowie; sister, Joan Rowland Crockett (Tom) of Virginia Beach; sister-in-law, Brenda Wright Rowland of Marion; many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; special cousin, Novella Gibbs; and numerous special friends.

 Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Chilhowie.

Sidney Lee Reynolds

Sidney Lee Reynolds, 91, of Draper died Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Ray and Anna Dalton Reynolds; two sons, Gary Reynolds and Rocky Reynolds; sisters; Dorothy Padgett and Betty Jo Manning; and a brother, Jesse Reynolds.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

 He is survived by three daughters, Debbie and Jimbo Taylor, Deanie Hall and Janet “Spunky” England, all of Draper; a brother, Millard Reynolds; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

 Burial was in the Duncan Cemetery, Draper.

Patricia “Trish” Carol Roark

Patricia “Trish” Carol Roark, 60, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Roark was born in Annapolis, Maryland, on Sept. 17, 1962. She worked many years at the local sewing factories within the community.

She is preceded in death by her father Paul Doane.

She is survived by her husband, David Lee Roark; three children, Cody Roark and wife, Allyson, Megan Roark, and Paul Doane; her mother Letha Doane; brother Billy Joe Doane; grandchildren Caitlin, Riley, Elaina, Cody Jr., Addison, Lilly and Jack; special friend Joan Doane; and several other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, April 21,  from Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with the Rev. Paul Shallenburg officiating. Linda Kaye Corvin Stultz

Linda Kaye Corvin Stultz affectionately known as “gagga”, 68, died April 12, 2023.

 She was born Sept. 6, 1954, to the late Sawyers L. and Helen H. Corvin.

She is preceded in death by a sister Brenda Gray. S

he is survived by her husband, Larry A. Stultz; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Matt White; sons, Troy and Brooke Stultz and Darryl Stultz; grandchildren, Jacob and Alli Fariss, Sarah Fariss, Matthew Fariss, Christian King, Matthew White, Michael White and Mason White; great-grandchildren, Laken King, Bentley Fariss and expected in October 2023, Isabella Fariss; and many, nieces, cousins and friends.

Linda and Larry had a passion for travel and attending film festivals. One such cherished memory was to Mississippi in the middle of a tornado. Stultz enjoyed coffee and good conversation around the table reminiscing with her cousin, Micki. She loved to garden alongside her dad, Leyvine and was an avid reader a passion she instilled in her daughter Jennifer. Recent years found her singing at family reunions with cousins Patti and Marcella. Stultz gave each person a memory and smile that will carry with us till we meet again.

Charles Johnathan “Moses” Wojciechowicz

Charles Johnathan “Moses” Wojciechowicz, 39, died Monday, April 10, 2023, at home.

Born on June 2, 1983, in Jacksonville, Florida, Wojciechowicz grew up having many interests and hobbies. He was a huge New York Giants fan, talented artist, musician and athlete. He would open his doors and home for anyone in need. Wojciechowicz did not back down from life’s toughest battles but met them halfway with his head held high. He proved there is always a way through God and was motivated to spread his word to anyone willing to listen. No matter the circumstances, Wojciechowicz never gave up and always worked to improve. He was a brother, son, father, uncle, godfather, nephew, grandson, friend and more.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bruno and Patricia Marino, Charles and Caroline Wojciechowicz; uncle and aunt, Murray and Kathy Jamieson; cousin, Shawn Lyons; uncles, Bobby Wojciechowicz and Ricky Wojciechowicz.

Wojciechowicz is survived by his fiancée, Mandi Gregory of Marion; daughter, Kerstin Bernhardt of Pensylvania; parents, Charles and Sharon Wojciechowicz of Marion; brothers Eric Wojciechowicz of Chilhowie and Josh Wojciechowicz of Marion; special aunt, Linda Marino of New Jersey; special cousin, Ray; several nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends.

Donna Sue Wood

Donna Sue Wood, 58, died Monday, April 17, 2023, at Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Wood was born in Marion on Aug. 31, 1964. She is preceded in death by her mother Carol Jean Pierce Alley; stepmother Frances Smith Alley; brother Bobby Alley; and her mother and father-in-law Darlene and David Wood Sr. Wood had a passion for her job and working at the Brightview Retirement Home in Baltimore. She was faithful and dedicated, working as housekeeping supervisor until her health wouldn’t allow her to continue.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years David Wood Jr. of Maryland; sons Brian Cline and wife, Leslie, of Rural Retreat, and Eric Cline of Marion; stepson Zach Wood and wife, Emily, of North Carolina; stepdaughter Alyssa Wood of Texas; father Edward Alley of Marion; brothers Ben Alley of Texas, Eddie Alley of Marion and Able Alley of Seven Mile Ford; sisters Cynthia Poe and Randy Harris, April Troxel, and Ava Mitchell and husband, Jason, all of Marion; grandchildren Savanah Cline, Danny Patterson and Martha Wood; many nieces, nephews; and her two special companions Lucy and Lilly.

Burial is in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
