The 2022-23 Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State Team has been announced, with six Radford student-athletes being honored with a selection.
Saleena Lynch, Camryn McClure, Nicholas Taliaferro, MegAnne Gilmore, Tanner Barrs and Laura Thompson all earned a spot on the list.
To be eligible for the Academic All-State Team, honorees must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher and be a sophomore or higher on any of your varsity teams.
Lynch, a recipient of the Big South’s Bob McCloskey Graduate Scholarship this year, earned a near-perfect 3.96 GPA as a Criminal Justice and Psychology double major.
McClure was excellent in the classroom was again this year, posting a 3.93 GPA while majoring in Allied Health Sciences. Her performance helped the women’s tennis program earn a 3.84 GPA as a team, the highest of any program at Radford.
When he wasn’t on the course with the men’s golf team, Taliaferro was busy earning a 3.88 GPA while majoring in Finance.
Also studying Allied Health Sciences, MegAnne Gilmore recorded a strong 3.79 GPA, as did Tanner Barrs who majored in Management.
In her one season as a Highlander, Laura Thompson took home a 3.78 GPA as a Criminal Justice major.
In total, 214 student-athletes from 36 different schools were represented on the 2022-23 VaSID Academic All-State Team.
