Radford, E&H basketball tangle in pre-season

The Emory & Henry College women’s basketball team got the 2021-22 season and the NCAA Division II era underway on Thursday evening with an exhibition game against Radford University. The Highlanders won the contest by a 93-37 score in the first matchup between the two programs since Nov. 8, 2015.

The Highlanders scored the first eight points of the contest and pushed their way out to a 20-5 lead at the end of the opening period. The second saw E&H begin to find a groove as the Wasps scored six in a row to make it a 31-13 game. RU continued to make the most of their size advantage, leading 43-19 at the half.

Radford opened the third period on a 12-1 run to lead 55-20, and pushed the margin to 71-30 with 10 minutes left to play. In the fourth, the Highlanders outscored the Wasps by a 22-7 margin on their way to the 93-37 exhibition victory.
