WCC to begin automotive classes

Wytheville Community College will begin its Automotive Technician classes on Nov. 30. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30– 8 p.m. at the Wythe County Technology Center.

The one-year program will allow students to receive entry-level training in automotive service and repair. Motor vehicle areas of study include automatic transmission, transaxle, brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, heating, air-conditioning, drive train, axles and suspension, and steering. Students have an opportunity as part of the program to earn up to 26 different certifications through Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the Nation Coalition of Certification Center (NC3).

“We are proud to offer the new automotive program and to meet the demand for skilled automotive technicians in our service region,” says Perry Hughes, Vice President of Workforce Development and Occupational Programs.
