Smyth County Museum Opening Day and April Speaker Series

Join the Smyth County Museum & Historical Society for their opening day and first speaker in their 2024 Speaker Series. Dr. Tal Stanley of Emory & Henry College will present a talk titled “Listening Well” all about the importance of collecting stories on Sunday, April 21.

Stanley coordinates the “Watershed Project,” a project that has the mission to restore to civic memory the stories of people who otherwise could be lost and to tell honest stories about Southwest Virginia. This work to tell a deeper story requires an honesty about slavery in Southwest Virginia and at Emory & Henry College.
