Virginia Board of Education to host Accountability Listening Session in Abingdon today

The Virginia Board of Education is hosting a Listening Session on Thursday, April 18,, at 6 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon to give parents, educators, and community members the opportunity to learn more about the Board’s efforts in creating a school performance and support framework separate from accreditation. The Listening Session will facilitate public input and inform the Board to further the development of a school performance and support framework through Virginia’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) State Plan.

The sessions are being coordinated by the Hunt Institute, an independent, non-profit organization. Parents, educators, and interested citizens are invited to attend the session and comment on their expectations for the new school performance and support framework.
