Wasp tennis team takes out Bluefield

The Emory & Henry College women’s tennis team (5-1) earned a hard-fought 5-4 win over visiting Bluefield College (1-9) Monday afternoon in cross-divisional action.- Emory & Henry opened the match with a 2-0 lead as Bluefield only had five players in action. The Wasps won No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default.
– During doubles action, junior Logan Graham and sophomore Sarah Marion earned an 8-4 win at the No. 2 flight.
– Freshman Tess Flanigan and Graham sealed the match with victories in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Flanigan won by scores of 6-4 and 6-3 while Graham won – 6-1, 6-4.

Rural Retreat High School grad Callie Pollard dropped her set to Bluefield Farah Schweers 6-3, 4-6, 1-0

Bailey King, a Marion Senior High School grad, won by default.

King and Pollard won by default in doubles play.
