Bland’s Boone takes first in MED boys race

Bland’s Tyler Boone raced to first place in the boy’s Mountain Empire championships, leading the Bears to a second-place team finish behind Auburn.

Boone clocked in at 18:09.2.

Bryce Miller finished in fifth for the Bears, stopping the clock at 19:31.0. Kary Romano clinched sixth place with a 19:35.2 time.

Chase Parker finished in 27, stopping the clock at 23:44.0, and Elijah Butt took 28th with a 23:50.0 run. Calvin Nelson’s 25:52.0 earned him 31st, and Abram Quesenberry clocked in at 27:23.0, good for 33rd.

Galax took third as a team, following the eighth-place effort from Caleb Whitman. Whitman stopped the clock at 20:00.2. In 10th place, Caleb Mitchell clocked in at 20:13.8. Walter Whitman’s 20:44.5 run earned him 12th.

Edwar Ruiz finished in 22:08.4, earning 22nd. Manuel Moya Jr.’s time of 22:10.7 was good for 23rd. In 30th place, Madux Surratt clocked in at 25:14.0. Calvin Wait finished in 30:11.0, taking 35th. Josiah Whitman’s 30:22.0 earned him 36th and Jackson Hanks finished in 37th with a time of 31:56.0.

George Wythe finished fourth as a team.

Conor Martin led the Maroons with a fourth-place finish, clocking in at 19:21.2.

Oscar Montgomery took 11th with a 20:23.0 time. Nolan Campbell nabbed 13th, finishing in 20:50.4 Eli Tomiak’s time of 21:04.8 earned him 16th place, and Brandon Pannell clocked in at 22:00.5, good for 20th. Dylan Mann finished in 34th, stopping the watch at 29:29.0.

Zach Wingate led the Grayson contingent, clocking in at 21:49.2, good for 18th place. Elijah Butt’s time of 23:50.0 earned him 28th.

Jay Blackmore of Fort Chiswell finished in 24th, stopping the clock at 22:25.7.
