Charleston Women’s Basketball Upends Emory & Henry

The University of Charleston (W.Va.) Women’s Basketball Team (2-4) led wire to wire as it snapped  Emory & Henry College’s (4-2) three-game winning streak with an 86-63 victory Monday.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 10-3 lead at the 6:36 mark of the opening period and slowly extended their advantage to 20-10 after 10 minutes of play.
Charleston opened the second on an 11-4 run to push the margin to 31-14 with 7:30 on the clock. The Wasps put together an 11-2 to close the gap to 33-25 four and a half minutes later as the Eagles went into the intermission up, 43-29, after a 10-4 run to close the frame.
The third quarter saw Emory & Henry trim the lead to 10 (58-48), keeping themselves in the contest with one stanza to go. Leading 64-53 with 7:01 to play, UC put together a 15-7 run to give itself an 18-point lead at 78-60 with three minutes remaining. The Eagles continued to press, taking the contest by an 86-63 scoreline.

Sophomore forward Breanna Yarber led the Wasps with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
