Wythe County supervisors on Dec. 14 honored a slew of high-achieving runners from George Wythe.
The board started its monthly meeting with a proclamation honoring George Wythe track and field standouts who earned state titles on June 18.
Track winners honored included the 4×100 meter relay team of Ava Fowler, Peyten Thompson, McKenzie Tate and Haley Faulkner; the 4×400 meter relay team of Morgan Dalton, Thompson, Tate and Faulkner; Faulkner as an individual for her state championship in the 200 meter dash; and Davion Tillison for titles in the long jump and triple jump.
County leaders also honored the Maroon cross country girls team for its state title earned on Nov. 13, the third for this group.
Coached by Steve Golliher and Julia Tomiak, the team is comprised of Mogan Dalton, Camryn Hardin, Kara Temple, Kaleigh Temple, Carrie-Sage Dalton and Emerson Hardin.
