Monday at Chautauqua

Get sprinkled with a little Chautauqua fairy dust on Monday.

Starting at 11 a.m., your Fairy Godmother presents fairy stories, mystical magic, fairy dust and a magic surprise in the upper shelter for Fun in Fairyland.

Stick around for a noon bluegrass show at the shelter featuring Jim Lloyd’s Children’s Musicians Group.

Another free bit of fun comes at the upper shelter at 1 p.m. as Jean Farley works with kids from 5 and up (limit 12) making sun prints. The free Upper Shelter fun wraps up at 2 p.m. as the Wytheville Library presents storytime for little ones.

Bourbon Revival Band

At 10 a.m., the upper shelter will host free tie dye shirt making (bring your own shirt)

At 6:30 p.m., bluegrass sounds will start escaping from the Main Stage as Jaelyn Taylor and 21 South kick off the night’s entertainment.  The high-energy bluegrass band hails from the heart of Appalachia, led by 14-year-old Jaelyn Taylor who is carrying on a family tradition of making music.

Taylor began signing in church at 8 years old and hasn’t stopped yet.

Taylor’s grandfather, N.R. Taylor plays dobro – an instrument he placed first in at the 2022 Galax Fiddlers Convention.

Taylor’s father, Zac Taylor, plays rhythm guitar and supplies vocals for the band. He has written all the original music for Jaelyn Taylor and 21 South.

Closing out the night on Monday is an 8:30 p.m. performance from Bourbon Revival Band.

Formed in 2018, Kentucky-based Bourbon Revival aims to fuse bluegrass instruments with classic rock, pop and country, resulting in a high-energy outfit, made up of Matt Phelps on guitar, Jeff Baxter on bass, Tom Barito on banjo and Nathan Livers on Mandolin.
