Wasps tangle with Wofford in exhibition game

The Emory & Henry College Women’s Basketball Team (3-4) faced off against Wofford College (6-4) in an exhibition game on Monday evening. The Terriers picked up a 60-34 win in what was the second meeting between the two schools in as many years.

E&H jumped out to a 7-3 lead at the 5:46 mark of the opening period thanks to a pair of field goals by sophomore forward Breanna Yarber of Meadowview. The Wasps found themselves up 12-9 later in the frame, but seven in a row by the Terriers gave them a 16-12 advantage through 10 minutes of action.
The teams continued to struggle from the floor in the third. E&H matched Wofford 7-6 to make the score 34-21 with 2:26 on the clock, but seven in a row for the Terriers pushed the advantage to 20 (41-21) with one quarter to play.
Wofford used a 16-5 run to start the fourth to extend the margin to 31 (57-26) with 3:38 for what would be an insurmountable lead. The Wasps would not go away quietly, outscoring the Terriers, 8-3 in the waning minutes for the 60-34 final score.
